The Great Wall Of China

The great wall of china surrounding the
Henredon cabinets in the dining room.

My blue and white plate collection
has a new addition.

 The small cobalt and gold plate on the right.

 This is the lower left side.

Here's the upper left side..

Across the top.

 This little plate was a gift from my tennis friend Carole.

 She knew it would fit right in.

It's Limoges. Welcome little French plate.

 I always add a little sticker to the back of all

wall plates telling me where they came from.

The tag on the back of this antique flow blue

 plate reminds me of the day I found it.

It was an antiques show at Navy Pier, 

in Chicago, March 1991. I paid $15.00.

Green Onions - Good To Know

I found a good idea on Pinterest and added
my own to combine them into one.

Trim the ends from your green onions and 

instead of tossing them,

plant them in potting soil.

Keep the spoil moist and place them

 in a sunny spot.

This could go on forever...

trim, plant, harvest. repeat.

Chop the remaining green onions and blot dry
what you are not using right away
with a paper towel.

Use a funnel to fill an empty pour container.
(I cut the top off a 2L soda bottle)

I used a small plastic bottle for my container.

 Pop the bottle in the freezer and it's handy
 to shake out the amount you need.

 I keep these ideas in my
"Good To Know" board on Pinterest.

Expecting Too Much From Cilantro

Here's where my story begins.

I start with a small cilantro plant and

it grows into this beauty.

I was happily adding fresh chopped cilantro to my Mexican dishes. 

The taste of cilantro grows on you. 

Soon my cilantro starts to looks pathetic and begans to die. 

My oregano continues to grow.

What am I doing wrong? My other herbs were thriving.

the farmers market listened to my story.

Sitting on the tailgate of his pick-up truck, 

he tilted his hat back and said

"you're expecting too much from cilantro."

There you have it. It's not me, it's you.

I think there's a life lesson here.

Coke or Pepsi ?

I like both.....

 soda crates, that is.

 I found these old wooden soda crates
for $4 each at a NC flea market.

 The red Coke crate is open and the yellow
and blue Pepsi crate has sections.

I can think of lots of ways to use them.

No Lucy, we are not making one into a 

doggie bed. Lucy thinks everything would
make a cute doggie bed.

The red Coke crate was my patio centerpiece 

at Christmas. I filled it with tree clippings, 

a few pinecones and 2 oil lamps.

 The evergreen clippings have been removed 

and more pinecones have been added.
I'll use it for January and February.
Then use the yellow and blue Pepsi
crate for Spring.

And there's always that doggie bed idea.

Hidden Storage

My favorite kind!

It holds more tennis cans! My
favorite free storage containers.

It's hidden behind my laundry room door.

I had the idea and Larry built it in no-time

 this morning before leaving on a

 business trip. He knew I couldn't wait.

This is better than flowers!

We had enough 3-1/2X1-1/2 wood in the 

garage for this emergency project. 

It just fits in the space behind the door.

It's not been 'detailed' yet with putty and 

paint. I had to test it out and load it up 

with tennis cans. I couldn't wait.

This kind of project can keep me happy

and playing organizing for hours.

I should paint it, but I'm in no hurry.

This works for me!
