Give Me An M!

I love collecting the letter M. 

So when I saw the buffalo checked 

letters at Target for $1, I grabbed one.

I added it, along with two others to

the small plates I found thrifting

a while ago. The small plate rack is 

also a $1 thrift find. 

 This twine M is one I made years ago. 

It's simply an M cut out of cardboard with
twine wrapped and glued all around. 

You've seen it HERE. 

This galvanized letter is from Walmart's

after Christmas sale for 25¢. 

These inexpensive letters can be used for 

napkin rings/place setting charms, attached

 to a gift, ornaments on the tree, 

or collect several and spell out; JOY, 

MERRY CHRISTMAS, GATHER, HOME,

THANKSGIVING for a banner or sign.

3-Tier Galvanized Tray for Fall

The ever-changing 3-tier galvanized tray

got it's inspiration for fall from

 2 mugs I found thrifting.

 This handmade pottery mug beauty was 

only $1 at the thrift store! You know how 

much they sell for at craft fares and 

gift shops. I loved it the minute I found it

 because it's blue and ties in all my blue 

dishes and just autumnizes  everything. 

 Lucky me...I found 2 of them to perk

up our morning joe!

They are perfect for fall coffee, cider, 

tea, and hot chocolate.

That set the color story to orange and blue.

Those are very old napkins that I've had

forever. That Asian pattern was very

popular and is still a classic. 

More fall elements.

It's fun to grab this and that and see

what works. 

 Vintage salt and pepper set I use every fall.

 Another thrifted treasure that I found that day

 is this handmade pottery creamer. Blue too!

 It was also only $1. 

Old Ball jar, cinnamon sugar, and carved bowl.

Playing with mugs started this

all rolling.

Easy Fall Centerpieces

Here's another easy centerpiece for fall. 

Nestle string lights between pinecones 

in any container for an enchanting 

autumn vignette.

I'm using a dough bowl that I bought in 

Colorado years ago.

 I needed to elevate the candles. I used

 scrap 2x4's for the bottom.

I filled the bowl with small pinecones. 

The candles are circled with cinnamon sticks

 which is just the look I wanted. I always

 light the wicks so they don't look unused. 

I found 2 antique brownish cable thingies 

and stuck them in the ends. I originally 

thought I would use them as interesting

 curtain rod finials. (if anybody knows what 

they really are, please leave a comment.)

That didn't take long at all.

It did need a little night time pizazz.

I found this package of starry lights
at Target and knew they just made for
my centerpiece. They are tiny lights on a
copper wire that blends into the pinecones.

 It's battery operated, so it can go anywhere. 

 Just flip it on when it gets dark. 

 Pinecones and tiny lights. 

The copper wire make it easy to bend and tuck. 

Simple.

DIY Twig Frame Wreath for Fall

This fall wreath came together in no time

using things I had on hand. 

First I went into the yard with my garden 

loper and cut a good bunch of branches. 

I laid them out to the size I wanted that 

would fit on my front door's glass. I used

 4 twigs for each side. They don't need to 

 be straight. 

 Bundle them together at the ends with wire.

 Next attach the corners with more wire. 

 I used raffia to cover the wire.

 I left some of the raffia strands long for 

that 'harvest look'. 

 Next I hung a few pinecones from the top.
 I added small screw eyes on the ends of
the pine cones to string in the twine.

I topped it all off with some 

fall ribbon I found in my ribbon jar.  

 I used a large suction hook to attach 

the wreath to my glass door.

 Hang by one of the twigs from the hook

on the from door. 

I think this twig wreath can be a nice base

for other season too. Using decorations 

for Christmas, spring, winter, gives it a 

variety of looks.

My Easiest DIY Fall Centerpiece

Still a favorite way to add instant Fall 

to my house. 

You'll need 5  minutes and:

1 - a bowl, basket, or crate

2 - a glass hurricane 

3 - a pillar candle

4 - pinecones

I started with my large antique bowl. 

Next I added a glass hurricane in the center. 

I raised the hurricane on a cleaned tuna can 

or sour cream tub. Add a pillar candle. 

 Fill all around the hurricane with pine cones. 

I collect them everywhere I go.

That's it!  Five minutes later it's Welcome Fall.

Motivation From The Dollar Tree

Sometimes motivation comes from unlikely

 places. This time it came from the

 Dollar Tree!

We were having lunch with friends when they 

suggested we stop at a dollar store which 

was in the same plaza and see what

goodies we could find.

Here's our favorite; Autumn leaf goblets.

They will be my official everyday glasses

every year for fall.

I couldn't wait to get them home, washed and

play with them. They motivated me to get

my breakfast table "autumnized". 

I got out some of my fall accessories. My leaf

applicated table runner is a perfect match

with the goblets. Looks like they were just
 made for each other.

 I also used my leaf salad plates,

Added brown leaf plate chargers, 2 gold
thrifted (25¢) quilted placemats, a basket I
saved from a gift-basket set, also added my

vintage Brown Betty tea pot, vintage walnut

 and squirrel salt & pepper set, an antique

scale, oil lamp, plant in a Longaberger fall 

basket and my thrifted orange pottery bowl. 

Not that I won't change or tweak it again. 

This was my quick-pull-something-together

 RIGHT NOW for Instant gratification!

 I used what I had and 6 new fall glasses.
Now I think I need to get 6 more.
I've been using them every day!

 We're enjoying our evening wine spritzer

 or fall sangria even more.

I had more fun than a kid with a new toy.
