My Scone is Gone!

I've just learned the proper pronunciation of scone!

I got my information from two very reliable sources.

First my friend Cathy told me.

Then I heard it from Colin Cowie.

He was preparing these cheese scones on
the Nate Berkus show.
 He said that we Americans have been
pronouncing it all wrong.

It's scone and sounds like gone, not stone...

so I've been practicing.

"The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain"

and now

My scone is gone!

I  made some cheese scones too.

We had them for lunch with leftover honey glazed ham from Easter.
I had saved some in the freezer in small packages.
And tea, of course.

New Racket, New Shoes, New Recipe

That's what I got at my tennis club last week.

 My old racket has finally cracked. Time for the new, improved model.

 New shoes.

All set!

Monday Morning Muffins

I didn't have anywhere to run off to this morning. 

I felt like having something a little decadent to go with my morning coffee.

 That's really my basic "phood-philosophy" anyway!

Larry will be happy when he gets home form his early morning tennis game,

'cause he loves the smell of cinnamon in the morning!

Salvaged Louver Doors

Here's another idea of what you can do with
discarded louvered closet doors.

 I picked these up on one of our neighborhood bulk trash days. 

I had a few in the garage.
 I've used them HERE in the kitchen.

This week I thought I could use them to make shutter-like screen divider panels for the patio.

 Before the screen/louvered doors were added.

 Left side before.

They would also help to hide 

the hurricane panels a bit.

Right side before.

 Right side after.

I didn't do anything to them except clean them up.

 I still had a few cobalt blue glass knobs.
We added one to each set.

I think they give the patio area more of a porch feel.

 Lucy needs a closer look. Lucky thinks they're ok. 

Plus I love the look of shutters.

  A little Key West look for free.

 Larry loved this project because it involved no cutting,
no painting, no trip to Home Depot,
 no time and no money. 

And as a  bonus, it cleared some stuff out of our garage. 

We got it MAY'd in no time!

I Remember Mama

I remember walking thru this entry into 

my Mother's house. 

I remember walking over with the doggies for a visit.

I remember picking her up for our trips to Publix

 or to her appointments.

Off we'd go! 

 I remember all the good days we spent together.

I've made Chicken Enchiladas for tonight's dinner.

We're using the blue and white Vieux Luxembourg pattern mugs

from Villeroy & Boch for May.

Coffee bean grinder and coffee maker 

sit neatly on a matching V&B tray.

I've filled an old blue Ball jar with

 a cinnamon-sugar mixture for my oatmeal.

Oatmeal Cookie Flavor Sugar Mixture

3/4 C brown sugar

1/2 C white sugar

1 t cinnamon

It makes your oatmeal taste like an oatmeal cookie.

 May is also a good month for Key Lime Chiffon Pie.

So we'll have a slice with our afternoon coffee.

Counter Tray Vignette

My ivory wooden tray on the counter corner gets a lot of makeovers!

It's so quick and easy to do.

I added the blue and white Chinese balls to the apothecary jar.

I bought them at Pier 1 years ago.

The jam set from Villeroy & Boch.

Ivory berry candle bobeches.

And my Mothers bell gets a blue bow.
