I love wine barrel lid lazy susans,
but they can be expensive.
I made a faux-wine lid from bits and pieces
of scraps for nothing.
Here's how I did it.
I found these scrap pieces of wood leftover
from the garden arbor Larry built years ago.
I laid them together and used an old
20" table top as a template.
Larry cut the pieces.
We glued them together.
I ran a bead of glue into the cracks and
pressed in sawdust to fill in the gaps.

Then it was sanded.
I had one of these old lazy susans lying
around so we took off the bottom.
You can usually find these at thrift shops
for a dollar.
We attached reinforcement strips of wood to
the bottom. Then we attached the turntable.
I always date my projects on the bottom too.

I found a little leftover stain in the garage.
While the stain was drying, it was time to
find a font. This one is Harrington in
100 pt size, outline, condensed.
Gather the supplies: printed words, scissors,
tape, carbon paper and a black Sharpie pen.
tape, carbon paper and a black Sharpie pen.
I decided to make this a two family vineyard,
Jaeger~May. Joined in marriage in 1981.
I used carbon paper to trace the outlined
letters onto the wood.
It's the easiest way and it works great.
Fill in with the Sharpie.
There are so many possibilities for
a wine design.
I chose a very basic one.
Here it is on the glass coffee table
in the family room.
I may put on a coat of poly tomorrow or
give it a coat of mineral oil, as I do for my
butcher block kitchen island.

butcher block kitchen island.
But for now I wanted to take it out for a spin.
And play with it. Isn't that the best part?
When I'm not using it I'll hang it on the wall.

Cheers to a no-cost easy project!
