More Afghans...

I've decided to corner the afghan market.
It's part of my philosophy:
If something is worth doing,
it's worth overdoing!
Sometimes I get very lucky thrifting and
 find several hand crocheted afghans.
So I pile them all into my cart,
I check them over carefully and pick
the very best ones.
Blue, White, Cobalt- 60x54
w/2" Fringe all around
Faith Farm Ministries was having a huge sale.
I got 8 that day. Too good to pass up.
They needed the cash and I was happy to
contribute. Everybody wins!
Granny Squares-Blue Multi-40x40
I couldn't wait to get them home and
throw them in the wash with a nice
Downy April Fresh rinse.
 They are wonderfully soft.
This one has a pretty  5" fringe.
Light Blue and White-40x62
w/ 5" Fringe at ends
Light and Royal Blue Granny Squares- 80x50
Lucky is in charge of quality control.
This one has great Fall colors.
 Colorful Multi-Color Stripes 56x50
I stacked it here on my copper pot.
It brings out the colors in the oil painting
Original Oil on canvas bought in

(thrift shop $8.00)
 Royal Blue, Orange, Lime Green
Zig-Zag Stripes on Cream Body-72x60
 A bold color combination.
 Red and White are Dynamite-44x78
Perfect for Christmas, Valentine's Day,
Memorial Day thru 4th of July.
Here it is at the back of the sofa in the
red, white and blue for summer family room.
Or just tossed over the end of the sofa.
Lucky's on break in his favorite basket.
Blues with Creamy White Zig-Zag 40x64
I tossed that one on the back of the other
sofa. I'm waiting for...a dark and stormy night.

Now you are all wondering just how much
these on-sale-bargain-afghans cost,
aren't you? Ready.....
They were......$2.50 each!
Definitely Thrifty Throws.

Cheers!

  3. Hi Rita,
I love your crochet afghans. What great finds!!! I crochet so I know how long it takes to make every blanket. Its wonderful you have given them a new home and someone that loves and wants to cuddle up with them again...there is nothing like a home made afghan.
I also love your ikea pillow, I have been wanting the same one...it really is a pretty pillow.
    Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

  6. Rita! I have been bitten by the afghan bug myself. I had knee surgery in June and have had soooooo much time on my hands...I HAD to do something...so back to the ole crochet hook I went. I've made two baby afghans and have crocheted pin cushions, pot holders and have driven everyone on my blog and in my house nuts with pictures of my creative use of yarn! LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I was thrilled to see I am included in your Blogs you visit list - buy how come my says the last post was over a month ago!!! I know I'm slow, but not that slow! So glad you shared your creative inspiration with Sunday's Best - you helped to make it a great partay!

  8. I love both chevron throws and the red and white checked one! Great finds at a great price. I have a small thrifted throw in shades of blue that is the perfect size for my sons to wrap up in. I found your link on Southern Hospitality. Have a great day!

  9. It looks like you found some great ones, and what a deal! They look to be in great shape too. I must say I'm a wee bit jealous as I crochet and wool can be quite expensive. I love that there are so many blue and white ones.

  10. So glad these afghans found a loving home! I can picture my grandmother crocheting them. I have a green one she made me way back in the 70's when my apartment carpeting was avocado green shag:) It was my first apartment and the afghan was my main decor:)

  12. Hey Rita,
I LOVE the new afghans and the wonderful color combinations. The red/white one is my favorite, but the different shades of blue are great, too! Since your last post about afghans, I've bought a few at the thrift stores (I'd never really paid attention to them before). My question is how you wash them, besides in the washer. What type of detergent do you use? Fabric softener? Any suggestions you can give will be appreciated.
    Blessings,
    Lanita
