Shelves for Ball Jars

I bought a box of old Ball jars at a Flea Market years ago. I love the look of them and use them in the kitchen to store everything small. They are filled with flavored tea bags, dried beans, popcorn, small pasta, etc.
To keep them handy and visible "we" built shelves to fit under the kitchen cabinets. We used leftover 1X4 wood cut to the size that would fit on the counter. The shelves will hold my 16 jars. They give a little cottage look to this unused space. They take up just enough space so  that I can still keep a tray in front of them, and my KitchenAid mixer. I stained the shelves with leftover stain, but you can also paint them any color your heart desires!

  1. Isn't this pretty! I have a "thing" for jars and use a dozen gallon size on my long kitchen counter for storage/display. Love your little shelf and the combo of the glass and the contents. Charming!

  5. Really cute. I do a little of the same up above my frig on a shelf. Hey I have the same butter dish as you do in the pic I think. I don't use butter any more so I don't use it...plus it is very old and has a rancid smell to it!!

  12. Hi, I'm a Mason jar nut as well and your site is great (other ideas as well). I just wanted to note, it looks like (your phot enlarge feature is not working) you are using the jars to keep things fresh but you don't have a rubber gasket on any of the jars? All the best, Jim
