Using Thrifted Silver Trays

Here's what I had in mind when I found
several round silver plated trays at the
thrift store last week. See my finds HERE.
They were only 50¢ each! I tested them for
size with a dinner plate from a nearby stack
to make sure they would fit for me to use
as plate chargers.
I picked out an assortment of designs.
Each place setting will have a different charger.
Here they are used on the dining table.
A scrolled edge.
Round silver plated tray.
Just enough of the detail shows.
 Another pattern.

These were very tarnished, but
polished up nicely.
Here they are on the breakfast table.
I can use them for any of my dishes,
casual to more fancy.
 More of the table.
This old butter dish was my Mother's.
It was the one she used all the time
when I was growing up.
I used another thirfted find, a
water pitcher to hold a bottle of wine.
Add a little ice to keep it chilled.
My Mother's Day orchid is still blomming.
I found 5 silver trays last week and I'll be on
the lookout for 3 more, because I think...
Eight Is Enough!

Cheers!

  4. Oh, Rita, I wish I had seen this post before my husband and I took a little "vacation" to get away from things for a couple of days, and spent lots of time in thrift stores! I saw numerous silver trays, but never thought of them as chargers! What a great idea! Well----guess it's time for a couple of days out of town!! Thanks for sharing! Rosie @ The Magic Huch
P.S. Do you have a favorite silver cleaner?
