DIY Mini Jar Salt & Pepper Sets

You know those mini jam jars that you
get when you eat out. Save those and any
others at your table and make lots of these.
All you need to do is punch holes in the lid
with a nail. I did 3 for salt and 2 for pepper.
I love the gingham checked tops. So very
summery and picnic-y.
See the ones with the white lids? Those were
mini ketchup bottles. Super cute too.
See how small they are?  And very happy to
be repurposed as salt & pepper shakers.
You could even label these or decorate them
however you want. So make more. The
original labels peel right off. Then I put them
in the dishwasher.
Never met a jar I didn't like.
I think everybody at the table should have
their own set!
And I've saved the best for last!
Ta Da!! Yes, cinnamon sugar in the jar
 with the brown checked top.
 How adorable is that?!!
Everyone can have their own cinnamon sugar
 shaker for breakfast...French Toast, Crepes,
Oatmeal, Toast. How fun!
I just get such a kick out of these :)

Cheers!

Bring Out The Americana Decor!

The RED, WHITE, and BLUE accessories
are out again for the summer Patriotic
holidays. Here's the breakfast table.
The 50¢ thrifted USA bear is helping with
the Americana theme.
Everything is on the picket fence runner
that I moved over from the sofa table.
The antique red scale is in the center.
These scrap ball are just a way to repurpose
 my old tennis balls.
Mixing red, white, and blue dishes.
I knew the red $1.00 teapot would
see lots of use.
I save these mini jam jars to repurpose for
individual salt and pepper shakers. I can put
a set at each place setting. The red gingham
tops are so cute! How could I toss them?
I just use a nail to punch the holes.
They fit nicely in this Longaberger business
card basket which makes passing the S&P
easy. It's all just the right size for the bear.

Cheers!

Having A Ball (Jar)

I have collected a few vintage aqua Ball jars
that did not have their original lids.
There are still lots of pretty uses for them.
I'm using this one in my bathroom. It's  filled
with cotton balls and the topper is a
votive/butte cup that holds the Q-tips.

These very large Ball jars were a great find.
They sit on the window ledge and hold extra
bars of oatmeal soap, cotton balls,
and epson salt with a scoop.
Of course jars without lids always make a great vase.

I have a  bit of a jar obsession.
Here's the proof:

Cupcake Liners

Pretty Little Liners.
I love collecting pretty cupcake liners.
Whenever I'm at Michael's and don't find
what I'm looking for I always use my
40% off coupon to pick up a
small pack of fun cupcake liners.
They are too pretty for a dark cupboard,
so I save cupboard space and store them
in these large vintage jars.
I keep the jars on the top shelf of the
hallway bookcase that is on the other side
of the kitchen wall. You can read about how
we built that in THIS post.
 On the center top shelf.
I think they would look cute on a shelf
used as bookends for cookbooks.
I  also have a few other vintage kitchen
items on the shelf to the left.
That's my Mother's hand grinder from Germany.
Finding storage space in unexpected places
 is always a good thing.
Finding a cupcake in one of the liners...
even better!

I Do Not Need More Jars!

That's what I kept telling myself every time
I passed the vintage style blue Ball mason
 jars in Walmart and Target.
I'd look. I'd desire. I'd walk away.
I was proud of my willpower.
Oil Painting by Mary Hughes
Yeah but........They are for a limited time
only! American Heritage Collection
celebrating the 100th anniversary of the
blue Ball Mason jars.
They have period-correct blue color and embossed logo.
You don't have a place to store them.
Yeah but.......Just look at them, they are so pretty! I could put flowers in them.
You don't need more jars.
Yeah but......I could use them for cute drink glasses too.
You don't need more drinking glasses.
Yeah but........I could store things in them and leave them out.
You don't need more storage jars.
Build Shelves for Ball jars
Yeah but........So many uses! I could put a candle inside.
You don't need more candle jars.
Yeah but......I could actually 'can' something in them.
You need to learn how first.
Yeah but.......I could fill them with something homemade and give them as gifts.
You won't want to give them away knowing your friends will probably throw the
emptied ones in the trash.
(Yes!  That would give me nightmares, and I would wake up screaming!)
I searched online and found the best price $8.99
for the six pack box at Ace Hardware
I placed the order for pick up at
my neighborhood store for no shipping charges.
Say hello to my new
'Yeah But' jars.
They just make me smile!

Cheers!

DIY Room Freshener

Make your own room freshener for pennies.
All you need is baking soda and
your favorite essential oils.
It's similar to my DIY Carpet Fresh Powder.
Fill a small container about 1/4 full with
baking soda. Add about 8 drops of your
favorite essential oils. Shake around a bit.
Make sure the lid is vented. You
can create custom scents for the seasons.
I had saved this empty jar of Renuzit room
freshener to fill with my own concoction.
Make several. Place it in any room.
Put one in your car too.
Give it a shake once in a while.
I put one on the entry table.
I used a rose scent for the summer.
It gives a subtle scent whenever I
enter the house. I Coordinate the scents
with the carpet fresh powder
I didn't have many saved freshener jars so
I just poked holes in the lids of a few of
my saved jars
