My method for cleaning brass furniture
hardware is very simple.
hardware is very simple.
See how well it works!
I used it to salvage these old pieces.
I let them soak a while in my safe
non-toxic, no fumes mixture
Brass Cleaner Formula
2 T salt
2 T vinegar
2 C hot water
Let pieces soak for 1-2 hours.
Let pieces soak for 1-2 hours.
Then rub off the tarnish with a
little fine steel wool or an old rag.
Buff dry.
I was able to reuse the hardware on
my thrifted buffet. Saving the expense
and trouble of finding new pulls.
See the buffet transformation HERE.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteRita...great tip! I'm keeping your recipe. It really does the job well and doesn't strip the brass of it's natural patina.
