August Review

Here's what we did in August. We've been busy.
Click on any of the highlighted titles to see the post.
Changed the coffee table vignette and
made lemon brownies.
We finally changed our garage lights.
I grew a sweet potato vine.
 Fresh rosemary on the table.
I changed my font. Easy to do.
 I organized the Tupperware closet.....again.
 Showed you "All My Chickens".
 Did a little house fluffing.
 My repurposed pot rack.
 Book club for two.
A must-read before seeing the movie.
Setting a country table.
My orchid is still blooming weeks later.
We made a picket fence tote from leftover pickets.
 I made a table square.
We drank lots of iced tea. My quick method.
 I organized the fridge.
Visited my niece hosting a Shabby Chic shower.
Shared my obsession for list making.

 Transitional breakfast table.
Enjoyed the baby ducks by the lake in my yard.
Made-over the guest bedroom.
The  month flew by!
Cheers!

Not Ready For Fall Coffee Table

I wanted to change the vignette on the
coffee table in the family room.
I was tired of the Summer lookof shells,
but I'm not quite ready to do Fall,
I needed a transitional look.
Here's my compromise.
I brought in the silver tray from the
cobbler's bench  in the living room.
This was a retirement party gift to my
 father-in-law given on April 5, 1976.
The signatures are from fellow board members at
 Standard Oil of Indiana.
That'll be the base for the vignette.
I'll cover-up all the signatures with my things.
The tray came in a velvet lined box
with this identification card, which I kept.
On top of the books I placed this tea cup and saucer.
It's one from my tea cup collection.
I had found it at the Kane Country
Antiques & Flea Market years ago.
It has a lovely blue and white pattern.
Don't know the name.
Very delicate.
It's made in England.
Coalport bone china, established in 1750.
I think I'll have tea in it today.
I'll need something to go with the tea, of course.
I haven't given up my chocolate,
but these were a nice change and very good.

Cheers!

Guest Bedroom Makeover

The master guest room is filled with
yellow, blue, green and painted white
furniture. Here are the after photos:
The chippy green picnic basket was found at the
Canton, TX Antiques market. It's topped with a
Longaberger lidded cake basket and a straw hat.
All the fabrics including liners, table topper,
drapery panels, and bedding are from Longaberger.
The lamp is filled with shells collected long
ago by daughter Kim on beach vacations.
A small bench holds a large collection of
hand crocheted thrifty throws.
Larry built this small ladder for me.
I painted it blue and use it to
 hang a few vintage quilts.
The quilts are topped with pillowcases hand trimmed
with heart crochet and patchwork squares.
Those are topped with monogrammed and
 a  few vintage handkerchiefs.
I left the antique mirror above the dresser
in it's original wood. I'm still deciding if I want
 to paint that white too.
We added  beadboard to the lower wall and
painted it yellow. ( Newborn by Glidden)
The wall above is washed in leftover blue paint.
(Enchantment by Glidden)
The king-size bed fits on the window wall.
The two night tables on each side of the bed
have a pair of Portmeirion lamps.
I found them on clearance at Marshall's years ago.
small Portmeirion clock, a beverage basket,
a crystal water caraffe and glass and a few books
were also added. A stack of Longaberger
baskets on the side is used for extra storage.
An antique wicker standing sewing basket.
A needlepoint covered brick is used for a door stop.
These were very popular to make years ago.
This one was my mother-in-law's.
I found this old, very heavy, solid wrought iron
 headboard on Craigslist for $20.
I just sprayed it white.
Another throw is draped at the foot of the bed.
This one was found for $4 and matched the
room colors perfectly.
Here's the dresser before we painted it white.
We found the three pieces on Craigslist for $65.
After painting.
The two night tables before.
 Painting everything white.
We removed the hardware and
left that the dark bronze color.

The old furniture in the room.
This is the set we took to Texas and painted black for
our granddaughter's bedroom. You can see that HERE.

Bed and Breakfast. . . you make both! *
