Fall Apothecary Jar

The tray on the counter is always getting 

a new seasonal display 

because it's so quick and easy.

I'm using my Longaberger basket tray

to give it a more Fall look.

Here's the empty apothecary jar and

the painted white heart tray. 

It looks so naked!

 I added a bag of fall pumpkins and gourds 

that are from a Michael's sale years ago.

Here's the bar counter above the sink.

 My chicken feeder is filled with fall dishes.

That's another quick change to add 

more Fall color in my kitchen.

I tied on a fabric bow and tucked in a few

leaves and berries.

 The candles have leaf and berry bobeches.

I've been lighting them as soon as it gets 

dark....which has been earlier and earlier.

How To Make A Sign

Before driving to North Carolina
I wanted to make a sign.

We always say
"It's Wonderful To Be Back." 

whenever we arrive at our place in
 North Carolina.

It's a quote from Nelson De Mille's book,
The Gate House.

The character John Sutter would always
 say that whenever he ran into anyone
in town that started asking questions
about his return. 

He left America suddenly, following
scandalous events of murder and mayhem.
He sailed his boat for three years
 and then lived in London.
He returned to the Gold Coast ten years later.

 For those that haven't made their own sign. Here are the steps.

Go to Microsoft Word and click to open a blank document. 

 Choose a font from the font list or go to format and choose one.

 If you want your font really big, just type in the size in the box.

 Choose the outline in effects.

 Here's how it looks in a smaller font size.

Choosing the font you want to use is the hardest part.

Using what I had on hand, 

I found a scrap of wood and some trim in the

garage to use for my sign.

 I used some leftover stain on the board

 and sprayed the trim black

and attached it to the top. 

I save pull-tabs from my tennis ball cans too.

I like to challenge myself to see if I can

 find a usefor things that I would throw out.

 Print it out and use tracing paper to trace the
letters onto your wood board.

I used a paint pen to paint in the letters.

Just twist to snap off the ring and nail it into 

the wood for a picture hanger.

It's our condo that wants to be 

a cabin or a cottage.

Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub

Make your own pumpkin spice sugar scrub
and stimulate your senses with
cinnamon and ginger.
It's a delicious treat that you don't eat.
Keep it by the kitchen sink and rub
a little over your wet hands and
they will be smooth as silk.  

Make another to use as a body scrub 

in the tub or shower. 

Store it in a plastic container. 

It exfoliates and smoothes your skin. 

Just rub a little all over your just washed skin

 and rinse off.

 Combine the sugars, spices and oil.
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C white sugar
1 T pumpkin pie spice
1/2 C vegetable or sunflower oil
or try baby oil.

Mix well until there are no lumps.

Store in a cute jar with a cute scoop.

The Ball jars and copper scoops 

were both thrift shop finds.

It's sitting on an old bread board 

next to my foamy soap.

 Tie on a ribbon and add a label.

This is enough for 2 small jars. Cut

 the recipe in half unless you are making

 a few extra for a perfect little gift.

A-U-T-U-M-N Banner

This is a paper craft project that will bring out your inner 4th grader.

Paper, scissors and glue.

The printables are from Poppies At Play,

The scrapbook paper is from Michaels 

and ribbons are from my stash.

I cut out each circle then decided which one
 to place on each piece of paper
and glued them down.

I then decided on a ribbon and made a 

slit in the paper to thread it through.

 Here they are all fitting on the ribbon nicely.

I only used half of each sheet of paper so

I can make another banner later,

 if I decide to.

Now I'm deciding where I'll  hang this banner.

In the dining room.

Across the Henredon cabinets.

or

Across the top of the alcove above
 the cobbler's bench in the living room?

I may try it in the family room,

or the kitchen.

Branching Out

Adding rustic fall touches is as easy as 

 going out in the yard 

and picking up a few dry branches.

To dress them up use a silver champagne bucket for a vase.

 Easy.

The silver coffee and tea service sits in front 

 on the antique cobbler's bench.

Wine corks collected in a silver wine caddy.

I've wanted to find a room to do a little 

fall decorating in neutrals. I found it on 

the cobbler's bench in the living room alcove.

This will satisfy my RDS from my last post 

with two of my favorite things...

....twigs and silver.
