No Beach~No Problem Tablescape

You don't need to be near a beach to get a beachy look.
You can 'doggie-bag' the clam shells from
your last dinner out. I take them home
and give them a good cleaning.
I can put them in one of my
apothecary jars on top of beach sand.
No beach sand? No problem.
Here I'm using cream of wheat cereal.
Looks just like the beach. I recycled a
a box that was past it's expiration date.
I kept everything neutral and used things
I've used before.
Colors for the beachy sofa table:
cream & wheat

  1. I'm with you! Bring the beach to me!! Clever idea to use the cream of wheat!! Last year I purchased a bag of playsand for Home Depot for about $4 that will last me awhile!

  2. Very Pretty...I'll take the beach anyway I can get it! Love your vignette!

  3. I am currently on a blog break but browsing around. I came across your blog and love it! If you'd like some real beach sand I'd be happy to send you some. You did an awesome job recreating the look of beach sand, I never would have thought of something like that!

  4. Clever to keep your shells! I live about a mile from the beach, but we don't get nice shells here. None that roll in in one piece anyway!
I thought that was real sand, too:)

  5. Very pretty. I love decorating with shells and sand for spring/summer.

  6. I would have never thought of cream of wheat!! You are amazing, Girl!

  7. Rita, Your "sand" is so creative and I love your coastal vignette! Thanks for linking to the Open House party.

  8. Love it! I will pull the shells out later, closer to summer. Right now I am using nests, birds, birdcages etc. Love the cream of wheat idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XO, pinky

  10. OK - I am really yearning for the beach now! Great coastal displays. Cream of Wheat? Who would have thought? It looks so real. Now I know what to do when I run out of beach sand. Thanks for sharing.

(I do have "Spring Fever" - listening to your playlist- so relaxing)
