Cow Appreciation Day

Seems like the perfect time to show a few

cows I have mooing around here.

Here's where they are kept. You can see

them peeking out.

I just had to have a cow creamer.

Then I found this s&p set.

 Then I found this cow pitcher in a thrift shop.

Milk for cereal or a vase for flowers.

 I also gave my mother a cow creamer.

It's now been added to my collection.

 I can put one at each of our place settings.

Everybody gets their own cow.

Check out the napkin rings.

I found these in a thrift shop too.

I made my own foamy soap reusing

this cow labeled wine bottle.

I bought this wine, because of it's unique 

bottle on our trip to North Carolina 

visiting vineyards.

 Real cows have the right of way on the road

that leads to our place in

 North Carolina's Smoky Mountains.

 I love seeing them by the side of the road.

Laundry Folding

I fold the clean laundry on my bed.

It's where most of the clothes and linens

 go anyway and its a nice big surface. 

 There is no flat area in my laundry room

 so this is the spot. I can also watch TV 

while I sort and fold.

I always have company too.

 Lucy always joins me.

'I'll just watch you fold'

And then she falls asleep. 

Such a cutie!

I almost hate to leave when I'm done 

because she'll wake up and follow me.

She's always near me.

DIY Wood Stars From Salvaged Slats

I'm still repurposing the wooden slats that I 

removed and saved from the makeover 

chicken wire pantry door project.

I made a few shabby chic stars.

 These are the slats from louvered doors. 

 Use a heavy duty stapler.

 Just staple! Very rustic. 

In the breakfast area.

I just popped them among the plants. 

I also have a few by the outside entry.  

I'm keeping these in mind for Christmas.

Red, White, and Blue

A little patriotic table setting.

So easy and quick to do.

Bring out the Stars and Stripes Longaberger

 placemats and napkins. Use the cobalt 

blue glass chargers.

Add the ribbon candle rings.

Use the shutter table runner 

to corral everything.

Note the white wooden stars in the planter.

A quick DIY in my next post.

 Add a little red.

Mix in a few red and white plates.

Stack red and blue teacups.

Pop red carnations into my latest

thrift store ironstone vase.

Throw a red white and blue thrifted 

throw over a chair. Remember to grab it

for the fireworks viewing blanket.

All of the Independence Day decorations

are stored in a large Longaberger picnic 

basket next to the sofa table. Remember

 to grab it for the fireworks too.

Feeling festive.

Celebrating Independence Day has more 

meaning for me each year. 

Such a sacred American holiday.

A Repurposed TV Armoire

What to do with a no longer needed TV armoire/cabinet?

We had a very nice Henredon TV armoire 

that was part of our wall unit so I didn't

want to get rid of it.

We said goodbye to our last tube TV. 

That now left a big empty space.

 Empty spaces don't stay empty very long in 

my house.  I managed to fill it with 

a collection of stuff in no time.

Not a very good use of space.

 I thought adding shelves would make this a 

 great storage cabinet for some of my 

seasonal glasses and mugs. I also found the 

back panel for the TV cut-out in the garage 

when we were searching

 for wood for the side and shelves. 

 We used 3/4" MDF for the project, 

because that's what we had in the garage.

Nothing is nailed into the cabinet. The shelves

just rest on slats that hold the sides in place. 

We can remove it anytime. We used the

 trimmed-off pieces of the MDF shelves for 

the slats. Nothing ever wasted here!

Loaded it up and still have room to spare!

The space is 40"W and 24" D. The four

shelves (counting the bottom) give about

26-2/3 square feet of shelf space or the

equivalent of 26-2/3 feet of regular kitchen 

cabinet shelves. In other words...Lots!

All behind closed doors. 

I love projects like this:

*no cost

*very little time

*very little skill

*use up stuff in the garage

*lots of organization and storage!
