My Picket Fence Tool Tote

When I saw this project at Funky Junk I
 couldn't wait to make one.

I love anything made with picket fence scraps.

 I have a few leftover picket fence pieces in
the garage that I could use. I just needed to cut
them to size and screw them together.

 It's rustic, it's shabby, it's versitile. I love it!

 This is how the ends are screwed together. 

It's a 10 minute project. I love that too.

 I lopped a branch off a tree in the yard
to use as a handle.

 Poked it thru a hole drilled into each end.

 Here are a few uses: a bottle tote,

 a wine caddy,

 a display spot for vintage jars,

 a handy tote for oils and vinegars,

 a beverage glass tote,

 and my favorite is a storage tote for my wood 

bread and cutting boards.

Love my Mom's old pig.

It's pretty filled with flowers too.

I can think of so many ways that I can play use
this. I've already decked it out for Christmas
 in my head. Is that wrong?

Picket Fence Table Runner

I MAY'd this picket fence table runner.

I wanted to give my breakfast table a cottage look.

It's from pieces of cut-up leftover picket fence.

 Larry just pried off the back wood strip.

Then I realized that I would need 6 pickets not 4.

Luckily we had another section in the garage.

 I washed them and just laid them on the table.

No painting, 'cuz I'm going shabby chic. I didn't even attach them together,

'cuz I may change my mind....again.

I used my daisy basket as a country garden theme.

Brought home a bunch of fresh daisies,

"Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?"...Kathleen Kelly.

Little watering can napkin rings.

 Daisy napkins and placemats are Longaberger.

Yellow and blue Longaberger pottery.

Yellow handled flatware, blue goblets and 

vintage juice glasses finish it off.

The wood pickets make a great serving runner.

It's a natural trivet for hot tea pots.

I then added popcorn kernels to the

 blue votive candle in the old small Ball jar to give it
 a country cottage look.

I love picket fences.

I've used them for headboards, on the patio, on the potting bench, as a cup rack,
and now as a table runner.

Americana Breakfast Table

The first place I decorate for any holiday
is the breakfast table. It instantly gets me
 in a holiday mood because we see it
 and use it every day.  

My RED tool tote,  (Made it HERE) is the

 centerpiece. I filled it with a few potted 

plants and a paper flag. A little wooden swag

 is taped inside each end. Think hearts for

 Valentine's Day and snowflakes for 

Christmas. It's been a very versatile

 little red tote. 

The ususal suspects: Longaberger Patriotic

placemats and napkins, blue & white dishes

 mixed with red transferware, blue goblets,

2 'cheapie' stars and stripes bowls.

Added a  picket fence table runner,
(another one made HERE) gives it an

Americana-homewtown-picket-fence-yard
kinda feel. I love picket fences and this is
as close as I'll get to having one.  

 That's my Mother's Day orchid still blooming. 

That's why I love orchids. They bloom for
 months! And then they bloom again several
 times a year...for years!

 Wooden firecrackers.

 That's the broken end of a hoe. 

It's red so it's in.

 A Longaberger Patriotic basket is filled with 

dishes ready for dessert,

Next time I make this German Erdbeer
(strawberry) Kuchen,

 I'll add a few blueberries.

Just plop a few right on top of 

the whipped cream!

The Christmas Kitchen

Lots to see...

My favorite kitchen Christmas project 

this year has to be the pantry doors.

 I added lace sheers I saved 

from my mother's house 

to the chicken wire doors.

Then added two small  wreaths.

 Here's one side done.

 I wanted to hide my non-Christmas dishes.

The other dish's colors would 

conflict with the Christmas colors.

First I added pinecones and red bows.

 Then I found the box containing these. 

I just love this!

Our handmade 'Merry Christmas' sign hangs

 above the pantry and a Longaberger 

laundry basket gets it's red-ticking 

liner flipped over and is filled

 with evergreen branches. 

 The kitchen island. The red checked runner
is a window valance I found for $1.00.

The picket fence tote we made sits at the

 end of the counter and hold cutting boards.

 The vintage scale holds a red pillar candle

and a ring of wine corks.

 The little thrift store milk glass lamp gets

 a Longaberger Holly lampshade 

and sits inside a wreath.

Evening lights.

 A lighted wreath sits behind the glass canisters.
Holly pie plates in the wrought iron pie stand
 are filled with red measuring cups, spoons,
and Christmas goodies.

Spode tea cups are used for scoops.

 The pot rack is trimmed with garland.

Large copper cookie cutters are tied with

 raffia and trimmed with a 

wood beaded heart garland. 

The top of the refrigerator holds cookie jars.

 The counters.

Wood NOEL sits on the microwave ledge.

Christmas tray and tea kettle.

The caddy holds bottles of oils and vinegars 

that are topped with Christmas wine stoppers.

 Counters below my open cabinet.

 Continuing around to the sink. Another Longaberger
lamp with Holly shade.

Christmas tree soap dispenser.

 A Christmas black cat that holds a scrubbie. 

I bought that when we had our black cat, 

named Sadie. She lived to be 26!

That was long before the Yorkies.

The chicken feeder holds lots of Spode plates

 Kitchen utensils tucked into baskets.

Last....but not least, the doggie's get

a Bow Wow Christmas.
