TIP: Dingy Yellow Headlights?

Does your car have dingy yellow headlights?
No problem...here's a easy solution
I just had to share!
Just use a mosquito repellant like
Deep Woods Off!
Spray enough on a rag or old sock to
saturate. Now just rub it off!
 Shiny and clear!
 Just that easy.
 Before :(
After! :)
Now I know you want to try it on you car
right now! But please come back and
let me know how it worked for you.

Cheers!

A Lovely Family Tradition

My good friend and tennis partner today was
telling me about her plans for celebrating
Rosh Hashanah with her family tonight:
her menu, her large family that would be
there, and all her preparations. It sounded
wonderful so I stopped by her house after
tennis to get a look. Iphone pics for you.
Her table was set with family heirlooms.
The best part, I think, was the tradition
started by her mother of gifting every
new member in their family with a
silver wine chalice. A Kiddush cup.
New babies, and new brides or grooms
were all presented with their own.
And here's the best part II. At each family
celebration they would use their goblets.
They would be dropped off ahead of time.
Each one was different.
Some were monogramed.
There were 19 here for
tonight's dinner .
Two tables were set up.
Her mother's silver tea and coffee set.
One with her mother's silverware and gold
rimmed china.
The other with her mother's
Spode china.
This is Spode Copeland in the
 'Patricia' pattern.
Handled soup bowls ready to be filled
waited in the kitchen. Both sets
had matching soup bowls. So pretty.
White roses in the center of the tables.
One of the items on the menu was
my Fabulous Fall Salad. I had given her
the recipe and she hadn't tried it yet.
It will be served without the chicken
because it will not be an entree salad.
I hope it was a hit.
L'shanah tovah!
Cheers to Traditions!

update: The salad was a hit and everyone
went home with a copy of the recipe. :)

Just Add A Pinecone!

The easiest way to decorate for FALL,
is to just add a pinecone!
Pile them in a bowl, fill an apothecary jar,
a basket, or a bucket.
Boom! you've just decorated for Fall!
Here I've used 2 small ones as place card holders.
 I've lined the stairs.
I've even used them as finials by glueing
them on the ends of a wooden drapery pole.
 I love pinecones!!
I've been gathering them for years!
I always pick them up at rest stops
during our road trips up north.
These are jumbo ones I find in North Florida.
 Sometimes one is just enough.
Baskets and pinecones are a natural.
I've had my pinecones for years. I'll be
looking for more on our next trip in October.
An old piece of wood board with pinecones
and Dollar Store glass candle votives creates
a no-fuss, almost no-cost centerpiece on the
 breakfast table for fall
An old bushel basket filled with pinecones
gives my entry a fall look.
Twigs from the yard fill a silver champagne
bucket with a couple of my jumbo pinecones
 on each side.
I added a few to pinecones and tree clippings
to the planter box on the patio table.
Pinecones in a dough bowl on a kitchen breakfast bar.
I use my pinecones from fall through spring.
Come Christmas, I just add a string of little

Cheers!

Small Painted Trays and Fall Leaves

I found these painted tin trays
at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store
in Bryson City, North Carolina. I visit it
every year we're in the Smokies.
I thought they were just the right size to use
as snack plates for card games or
bread and butter plates at the table.
I'll add them to the leaf-strewn table.
I couldn't resist picking up more fall leaves
and just strewing them on the ivory
matelasse table runner.

Cheers!

I found it on Dear Lillie
Pop in an 8x10 frame.

Autumn Leaves Tablescape

Today I'm revisiting a fall tablescape.
I was looking through the archives for inspiration.
This is from the NC condo....
I pulled a few items together that I had,
most of them for years, and a few local finds
to create an Autumn leaves tablescape.
I'm using the rattan chargers again.
The black fabric placemats reverse to red
for another look. Two for one placemats.
The leaf print plates are used for salad.
They were a thrifty find at a local craft fair.
Someone had decoupaged fabric on the back
of glass plates. I got 4 for $1.25.
All the leaf pottery is from Walmart.
I bought it on sale last year.
A wreath of fabric Autumn leaves encircles
 a glass hurricane pillar candle.
Clay pot saucers are used as wine coasters.
The classic amber stemmed wine glasses
were bought in Germany many years ago.
 Grapevine napkin rings.
I used a long hand knitted scarf as a table
runner. These scarves are great to find at
all of our local towns' art and craft fairs.
An Autumnized table!
Ready for an autumn dinner... start with my

Stay cozy...
